People Are Taking Notice

I'm taking a little time-off to re-charge, following the volume of content posted during the Australian Open. However, here's some good news:

Site statistics during the Australian Open compared to the two weeks prior.

  1. Excellent to hear Sen Rikyu!
You have done such an amazing job with this site, pointing out the flaws in the ITF's doping protocol, and then timing it all with the most overt of all doping finals (that i suppose should be credited to the two "gladiators") that you certainly have earned your "prp" break ;)

Look forward to see a doped up version of THASPE in the near future..although i cant fathom it getting even bigger.

Perhaps you could try to pry some information from Mr. Yannik noah himself? I am sure he frequents the blog as one of the unique visitors you have quoted.

He is sure to have some inside scoops.

  2. Eh, SnR, only a couple of days ago I wondered about this and wanted to ask if you noticed any increase in the traffic these days - and I suspect I'm not the only one. Well, keep on beating us (who care and know the what and the how, but are, as THASP himself put it a while ago, too lazy to do all the tedious work it requires) to the punch like that. So, enjoy you holidays and - be back soon! For, as swisscheese40 recently said: debating this stuff is more fun than watching it (i.e., this game still called tennis only by virtue of it being played on a tennis-court and by hitting a little ball with a racquet). Cheerio.

  3. hey SnR how are we so sure the traffic has increased substantially? Doesn't google count those users that have visited it more than once?

    1. That's why I included the "Unique Visitors" stats and the "New Visits" stats. Those weed out multiple visits by the same person (i.e., IP address). So, by any measure, the site got a lot of new readers.

  4. Excellent blog! Would you consider updating the Nadal article with his latest shenanigans please?

  5. Murray, Djokovic and Nadal have all pulled out of Davis Cup....I thought they had to play DC this year to play in the Olympics???....or do they only have to play one DC between Olympics to qualify??

    1. They've already qualified if they played last year, and in one other year 09+

Djokovic played in 10 and 11 so has qualified. He's also not needed, cos they're playing Sweden minus Soderling (and the Swedish second string are truly hopeless)

Nadal played 09/10/11. Also isn't needed cos Spain are at home vs Kazakhstan, on clay.

Dunno why Federer is playing, since he played in 2011 and 2009. He doesn't play much Davis Cup generally.

Murray played in 2009 and 2011. Not much point for himm he basically becomes a one man team, needed to play doubles also.

  6. Am I right in thinking that withdrawing from the Davis Cup allows you to miss drugs tests?

  7. interesting question....outside of DC if I recall correctly Gasquet's positive test was the result of a test he had to take despite pulling out of the tournament for which he was scheduled....it would be a good question for the ITF/WADA, which would be a good chance for ITF/WADA to give Sen a non-answer.

    1. By not playing in Davis Cup, the players are avoiding a doping test by not being on the team. However, they are not "pulling out" of anything because countries have until 10 days before the tie to finalize their team (and the ties all start on Feb. 10) Only players on the team will be tested. So, to answer your question, no Gasquet scenario is possible.

    2. well what a perfect time for ND, RN and AM to be tested out of competition if you ask me. If they are staying away from DC to dope up and avoid tests then why not test them while the DC is going on just to be sure? Oh, I forgot, the point is to NOT catch any players doping. Silly me.

  8. Thanks Sen for all of your efforts (especially pointing out how severely corrupt that Peter Bodo is).

  9. I just stumbled upon this tweet by Jon Wertheim during the Federer/Nadal SF on Jan. 26th...

ITF has just turned up a positive test for ridiculous tennis…..Nadal 4-2

...Interesting choice of words wouldn't you say? And Robbie Koenig retweeted it saying it was "the best line of the week". Do they know something the rest of the tennis media doesn't know?

  10. And yesterday Robbie Koenig tweeted this pic saying "This is NOT a drink for @RafaelNadal @DjokerNole or @andy_murray !!!

    http://yfrog.com/h483884186j

It's a picture of a 5 hour energy drink. Interesting that he would single out those three players. The three who can run around the court non-stop for 5+ hours without tiring. Again, is he trying to tell us something?

    1. I'm still dumbfounded how people can watch Djokovic play 2 marathon, brutal matches of tennis within 48 hours, and not be suspicious that he outlasted *Nadal* of all people, after Nadal had an extra day's rest, and not be *seriously* suspicious.

Think about it, any time in history a player playing a full-on meaningful match (i.e. Grand Slam semi and final), where they are throwing everything at it, and they play 4h50m one day, less than two days later they play 5h53min, and they outlast the most physical player on tour (well ok the second most physical these days) who had an extra day's rest... this is jus unheard of!

      It defies belief!

    2. Not just Nadal - he ran Murray into the ground, and ran Ferrer into the ground before that. Both of them were shattered at the end of their matches.

Ferrer and Murray are two of the fittest on tour, yet can't last a full match with Djokovic ........... then he plays 6 hours with Nadal on top of it. It's not even on the same planet as being credible.

  11. I think the penny will drop that these performances really are "superhuman", "unbelievable" and "ridiculous".

  12. Does anyone know what a regular tennis fan like myself can do to help expose this? I'm so disappointed but I'd really like to help expose the problem. Does Federer seem to be one if the big cheats ? Obviously Nadal has been for years and Djokovic has certainly become a big time doper last year. I'd live advice !
